This Beautiful Thing

This blog is a response to the comments found on this blog posting.

“I don’t normally talk about my religion publicly because I don’t want people to associate me and my flaws with this beautiful thing. And I believe it is a beautiful religion if you learn it the right way.” – Comedian Dave Chappelle

Everyone has a different take on specific religions, their beliefs on the world, but there is no denying that many people have done great things, as well as horrid things on the basis of their religion. At the core of almost every major religion in the world it is the fundamental desire to live a better life and to be a blessing to those around you. It is quite easy to point out the horrible things that are done in the name of religion in the world in this day and age, but let’s not forget that there are many charities out there that do great deeds in the world. There are always going to be good people and there will be bad people. It is the same with religious people. Who’s to say what is good and what is bad anyways? Depends on who you ask. Is it society? Is it God? Allah? Some other deity? Like many things in life, the negative deeds are more infamously well known than that of the good ones.

Some may believe that religion is just a way to generate money. Since many of you know me well, you know where I stand religiously. I cannot attest to your own experiences but from what I’ve experienced with my own eyes, the money is spent on servitude and not for self financial gain.

Religion is a sensitive topic. It’s a subject when discussed, especially on the Internet it will stand to alienate some and offend others, or it can bring people together. This blog however, was constructed as a way to express my thoughts and creativity on the web. It was designed as a place where it can bring people together.

I am a horribly flawed human being and like Chappelle I do not want my own personal flaws whether it stems from this blog or otherwise deter people and associate such things with ‘this beautiful thing’. These are the reasons why I was hesitant to discuss religion on my blog.

The truth I believe, will come for those that seek it. Despite many things, I stand by in what I believe in as the truth.
