Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympics

There are 6 billion reasons to say nay to the games but it was all somewhat worth it. My children and grandchildren may disagree.

Coming into the games, I just cared about hockey and saw it as a big hockey tournament. As the events unfolded I’ve learned to appreciate all the other sports that the Winter Games had to offer. From the aerials, and snow cross events to even figure skating. I’ve learned to embrace it all and I’ve come to appreciate the skill and determination each athlete showed in their respective area of expertise.

The Nationalistic pride, the extra sizzle in the air, the hustle and bustle that made downtown Vancouver alive and ever so vibrant made me fall in love with the City I grew up in again. I’ve become a tourist in my own town and I truly felt proud to be a Canadian.

I would like to thank VANOC, the IOC, the volunteers, and the athletes and my countrymen for one of the best two weeks of my life. I loved every minute of it.

Right now, it’s like the first day back at work after the Christmas holidays and the entire city is dreading the giant credit card bill that’s looming.

This post is about one week too late. Sumi.
